Luis Duno-Gottberg is Associate Professor of Caribbean Studies and Film. He specializes in XIX th. and XX th. Century, with emphasis on Race and Ethnicity, Populism, Violence, Literature and Visual Culture. His current research, Dangerous People: Hegemony, Representation and Culture in Contemporary Venezuela, explores the relationship between popular mobilization, radical politics and culture. He is completing a translation and annotated edition of Estela (1853), the first Haitian novel. His most recent publications include Miradas al margen.
