Fun after Emerging Disciplines Symposium , sponsored by the Humanities Research Center.  Guest speaker, Hermann Herlinghaus, University of Pittsburgh, and faculty from various departments, Beatriz Gonzalez-Stephan and Luis Duno-Gottberg (and wife, Marnie who are Resident Associates of Duncan College) from Hispanic Studies Department; Krista Comer, Associate Professor, English Department (Master of Baker/Duncan Colleges); and Rosemary Hennessy, Director, Center for Women/Gender/Sexuality came together to discuss future collaboration on events with Americas Research Center, headed by José Aranda, Department of Hispanic Studies Chairman (and Master of Baker/Duncan Colleges).

In October  2009, we celebrated Prof. J. Bernardo Pérez's 30th anniversary at Rice.  We had a surprise lunch with department folks (current and retired), and some  of his family.  CONGRATS again Prof. Pérez!  Rice, and especially the Hispanic Studies Department, is honored to have you!
